19th century history is very wide and rich topic. As ı mentioned before we are going to design a 19th century history museum. For defining our permanent and temporary exhibitions themes, we asked for to decide 3 themes inside 12 themes that given which are ;
Architecture and Urbanism \ Production and Industrialization Trade and Capitalism \ Citizenship and Cosmopolitanism \ Imagination and Utopia Entertainment and Visuality \ Travel and Tourism \ Mobilization and Colonization \ War and Immigration \ Fairs and Museums \ Arts and Crafts \ State and Politics
The 19th century, which was time-framed by Eric Hobsbawn between 1789 (French Revolution) and 1914 (WWI) as the long century, is a period when modernity was shaped under many cultural, economic and political forms that we are continuing to inhabit. So that first ı tried to understand the sequence of events how it starts and how it affects form one or the other. Actually we can briefly summarize the history of 19th century with under 4 topics which are politics, economy, society and culture and all the history of this century is the sequences of the major events that ı am going to mention.
With the French revolution nationalism and the concept of nations started to uprise. With this sequence imperialism and monarchies start to fall down. With power lost of nobles and class distinctions began and with the spread of industrial revolution it upraised.
As another major sequences started with industrial revolution and afterwards mechanical power started to developed economical powers are changed and colonial period started.
With all these changes lead the history eventually The Great War. As ı summarized these are the major events in 19th century.
So that ı decided to design my museum around the 3 theme of exhibition which are;
